Dear Westside Elementary Parents, Students, Staff, and Community,
My name is Tami Dodd and I am honored to be your child’s principal at Westside Elementary School! Please allow me to give you a little background information about myself. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Tennessee Wesleyan College, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum from the University of West Georgia, and a Specialist’s Degree in Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. I began my teaching career at Antioch Elementary School in 1988 where I taught grades 1-4. I also spent two years as a literacy coach providing professional support for teachers at Antioch before going to Tunnel Hill Elementary to serve as an Assistant Principal for six years. In 2010, I was named Antioch Elementary School’s principal and spent four years leading the school where my career started. Now, I begin my journey with the Westside community and I could not be more excited to get to know you, your children, and the great staff at Westside Elementary.
My vision for Westside Elementary is simple. I want every child that enters our building to feel loved, accepted, physically and emotionally safe, academically challenged, engaged, successful, and prepared for the next level. I want our families to feel respected, welcomed, and confident in the level of instruction and support their child receives. I also want our families to feel like partners in their child’s education. In addition, I want our staff to feel respected and highly valued by all stakeholders as they relentlessly work to ensure the success of every child and provide positive school experiences.
Thank you for entrusting Westside Elementary with your child’s education. With all of us working together and sharing the same vision, there is nothing we can’t accomplish!
